If I believed that polls were a bellweather of where the American people really stand on the issues I would do as my husband suggests and agree we should move our family out into the hinterland of flyover country (yes there really is something more rural than Do-dah City, typical Mid West State). Todays NBC/ WSJ Poll has some amazing numbers. For example;
44 % of Americans still support Obama – really no one I’ve talked to, even life long Democrats approve of his handling or lack thereof of the economic mess this socialist/ communist has tried to force down our throats. Government does not know business. It is an anathema, an excoriation, an imprecation. In other words it is an impediment to growth and success.
37% support Obama’s handling of the economy – again really. They found 37% of people who don’t know anyone who’s out of a job and can’t find one. They don’t know anyone with 50 thousand dollars in unpaid student loans working part time at Sam’s Club. They don’t know families who’s parents are working two or three jobs because they can’t get a permanent full time job with benefits. Maybe that 37% likes staying home on unemployment or welfare. After all that’s what we’re approaching. When the Chi/Coms take over there are going to be a whole lot of unhappy drones in the sweatshop bemoaning their fates.
42 % believe Obama has exhibited strong leadership – where, when. I must have blinked, I missed it. Was that when he shoved Obama care down our throats or when he lied to us about the stimulus creating jobs? Maybe it was when he took his 60th golf outing? Or could have been when he picked the same day as the Republican debate and then blinked? Somebody help me. Leadership and Obama does simply not compute.
41% think he’s a good commander in chief- Well if he didn’t hate the military, wasn’t trying to dismantle it and wasn’t using soldiers as campaign props while impeding their ability to get the job done I guess I might believe that too.
There are other findings but the most interesting to me is that;
60 % want the super committee in Congress to end the Bush tax cuts to families making $250,000 a year. That’s two people combined each making $125,000 dollars a year. Now out here in fly over country that’s a lot of money. My family and I could have all we’d ever need with that kind of money but on the east coast (where we grew up) that kind of money will buy you a house in a so-so neighborhood with drug dealers, whores and gang bangers on the next street. Just ask people in Montgomery County MD, a suburb of DC. We won’t even talk about New York city where a condo can go for 300, 000 +.
37 % want a combination of tax cuts and funding cuts, but not their personal agenda programs I’m sure. Sacred cows will out.
So I ask again. Where are the jobs coming from Mr President? They can’t come from the federal government, that’s not sustainable. It is a vicious cycle that can not support itself. Government gives you a job, taxes you but unless it taxes you 100 % it’s not getting it’s money back. Government doesn’t create a commodity, doesn’t provide a tangible product. Which of our new entrepreneurs are coming from the Welfare rolls? So if more than 40% of Americans don’t pay any taxes at all, how about we tax the rich more as well as start taxing the poor ? You know, have everyone pay a fair share. Maybe that would give some of the deadbeats an incentive to get off their fat butts and on to a job training program.
People with money create jobs either through employment or consumption. Take away the money take away the jobs. It’s not rocket science but apparently we have a country without the brains God gave a gnat.
According to the polls.
Hear, Hear!! Or maybe it’s Here, Here!!
“I would do as my husband suggests and agree we should move our family out into the hinterland of flyover country”
I’ve been thinking about becoming a real farmer instead of a casual one. Either that, or sailing away to the south seas where the typhoons roll.
Nice post, seanmaflyoverhair
Thanks boy-o. It’s getting harder and harder to find that nugget of optimism though. Even the sweet spouse a master optimist is about to concede defeat. Ah well tomorrow is another day, filled to the brim with new nonsense. Yippee
