Trouble in Perrydise
September 24, 2011 by seanmahair
(I’d like to note that there are no ad hominem attacks here. I might not care for the Governor but those kinds of sentiments just negate one’s argument not buttress it, and the Daily Kos this is not)
Governor Perry can’t turn things around on his record. 80% of the jobs created in Texas went to immigrants 40% or more went to ILLEGALS. He’s the governor of Texas, close the borders, expel the criminals, stop the trafficing of human beings. Except he agrees with Obama and is against the Arizona law that would force the state to enforce Federal law at the border. Go figure? And lets not even go to instate tuition for illegal immigrants. Heartless I may be but I refuse to subsidize college tuition for criminals when my own children are in debt up to their eyeballs because they wanted/needed to go to college. So I should tell my youngest child, “Sorry Mom and Dad can’t afford to send you to college. They are paying too much in taxes to send illegal immigrants to school instead. You can get a job at McDonalds or maybe something in the yard work or roofing industry.”
That’s not to mention his willingness to make medical test subject of young Texas girls with the whole HPV debacle. The fact that his former chief of staff is/was a lobbyist for Merc the company that developed the shots and that Merc gave him 30,000 dollars not 5,000 as claimed. When you’re running for president there can be no hint of backroom deals. Not any more. People are wise to that nonsense. On top of all of this is the reality that in Texas girls and their parents have no real choice about the vaccine. They can of course OPT OUT but unless they are paying very close attention their daughters are vaccinated before they even know about it.
(there should be a break here but wordpress won’t do it. Sorry)
Then there’s his position on Social Security as a ponzi scheme. He has yet to address what the country is going to do with millions of senior citizens who can no longer work but who still surprisingly have to eat, pay rent or a mortgage, clothe themselves not to mention medical care. If you’ve ever owned a car for longer than 4 years you understand that the older it gets the more work has to be done on it. Just like the human body. So what’s he going to do about that?
Sorry, I’m just not feeling it. This is a candidate I would have to hold my nose to support. Of course if the choice were him or Obama, I’d vote for him but I’m really tired of voting against someone. I’d really like to vote for someone this time.

PS: Hey! Other readers! Get hot!
As of right now I don’t have a candidate. While I understand everybody’s got issues most of the people running have integrity problems and that makes me uncomfortable. I can vote for someone I don’t agree with on some issues but I can’t vote for someone I don’t trust and have reasons not to trust. Find me someone to trust that won’t back peddle or flop and twitch in the wind and I’ll vote for him/her. Someone who takes a stand, defends it and if they decide to change their stand gives cogent, intelligent reasons for changing their mind and I’m on the band wagon. Until then I will remain undecided and unrepentant.
