I hate to say I told you so……no actually, I’m a woman, of Irish (Celtic) heritage and I love to say I told you so.
Here it is folks, just in time for Christmas, the annual “Hate Christians or anything that has remotely to do with religion or any stripe or variety (except Islam-cause their so nice)” syndrome.
Now truly the church fire probably has less to do with Christmas and more to do with Sarah Palin, who I am sure wishes she’d told McCain to trot on back to Washington and find someone who likes being drawn and quartered or flayed alive instead. But the perpetrators waited until right before Christmas to make their point. Of course as usual they are late but hey a points a point right.
It doesn’t matter that arson is against the law, it doesn’t matter that someone (a firefighter or people inside the building could have been hurt or killed-what’s a few dead right wing religious fanatics, right). It doesn’t matter that this country was founded on religious freedom, not freedom from religion. They had a point to make and they sure made it. The forces of peace and tolerance on display today. God helps us all.
As far as the Anti-Rudolph/Santa’s are as cranky as toddlers crowd goes here’s a hint. If you don’t want to participate, DON’T. Retailers are only in it for the cash. We “Christians” would be more than happy if those who don’t believe in Christ would simply not celebrate our holiday. After all we don’t celebrate Ramadan, Hannukkah, Kwanzaa, Samhain or other holy days from other religions. Everyone however, seems to think our religious celebrations belong to them.
Christmas, Easter, St. Pat’s and St. Valentines Day are all open season for commercialization and abuse, not to mention de-Christianization. So make a decision, either enjoy the celebrations and shut up or just go about your business, like the rest of us do all year long.
We don’t try to take over your holidays so either leave ours alone or “Cowboy Up”.
