Good bye Jeffy

……as my grandma used to say”Don’t let the screen door hit you on your way out.”

I don’t know why the folks at General Electric would want to fire the smartest man in Hollywood or maybe it’s the new folks at Comcast that decided to pull the plug on the backed up sewer water that is Zukers stock and trade. The man who was the executive producer of the that liberal leftwing lovefest called the Today show was tapped in 200O to head the network because he’d made that show such a success. Pardon me if I digress here but, the other two network shows were dismal so being the best of three piles of pigeon poop doesn’t seem to be to be that much of a success. Under his inspired leadership the network strayed from wildly popular script based series like Friends and ER to the wasteland that is “Reality” TV. He also managed to fiddle as NBC news burned, going down in a slow, steady but definative decline under his inspired leadership. His major claim to fame seems to have been buying successful cable companies. So he’s a good liberal, co-opting someone else’s achievements and then taking credit for them. How “fearless leader” like. His biggest blunder of all, at least in entertainment circles however is his mishandling of the Conan O’brien-Jay Leno debacle. Which actually is a analogy for the inherent problems with liberalism.

First you have someone who’s doing a decent job but wants to move on. He’s a big money maker and one of the few successful people at his particular job. So what to do, what to do? In Jeffy land you let him retire but……….you promise him a different show, a different venue as it were. Oh and buckets more money, never forget that. Then you, after months of waffling decide on a successor, to build up the excitement of course. Then you wait six whole months, and we have all been told they measure time in Hollywood in dog years – six months equalling 3 1/2 years, to see how the new guy does. He doesn’t do badly, he just doesn’t do as well as the old guy and the old guys new show has tanked, but you have million dollar contracts with both of these individuals plus there’s the guy that took over the successors show. Again what to do?

In Zuckerland you rehire the original guy, demote his successor and really screw the new guy because after all he and the successor are dispensable. Wait you had a contract. You are legally required to stay with the original concept for the duration of said contract. Ah but we can finagle, turn and twist things so that we are not literally breaking said contract. Which is why everyone involved in any way with entertainment keeps lawyers on retainer, that and the Lohan get out of jail card, free with any purchase of Low-Low’s fine body of work. What about being morally responsible to keep your word? Excuse me, where do you think you are Kansas, Texas, Montana? Places where morality still exists and the majority of people still know what the term means and try to live within it’s definitions.

In the end what you’re left with is the old guy who’s ratings have never, not even on the week he returned, rebounded. The successor, after a large payoff, has jumped networks to do an as yet specified cable shoe and the new guy who’s just happy to have a job, but is most likely working on other projects just to be safe. See any similarities to the way liberals run the government? If it’s broke don’t fix it, if you think it’s broke break it more, throw money at it, sacrifice a peon to the god of whateverispopulartoday, blame everyone but yourself, claim victory no matter how much of a defeat you’ve suffered and/or if it’s someone else’s work, move on as if nothing happened.

Life imitating art. Ain’t it grand.

In our next installment, Joey the news kangaroo. And we all know how much I love the MSM, Drive by, Liberal loser media. Should be worth a buck two ninety eight and change.

Extremists? Really?

You have to grudgingly admire the New York Times. It’s dogged determination to recast reality into it’s own image is nothing less than Quixotic and as we head into the closing days of this election cycle, the Don Quixote of the lame stream media will get shriller and shriller, it’s offerings sillier and sillier and it’s leanings will go which ever the way the prevailing winds are blowing.

The quote of today from it’s most resent vitriol laced offering and maybe for the election season in my humble opinion is

The tactic of linking potential Republican rivals to such statements was already in evidence last week. After Ms. O’Donnell’s victory, a party spokesman told reporters, “The fact that Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin would put their name behind a candidate that believes women who serve our country ‘cripple the readiness of our defense’ make them unfit to be commander-in-chief.”

Really? They are really going to go there. When we have the most incompetent, most hostile, the most anti-military regime in place ever to mar the annals of this country. In the run up before his election or dare I say ascension to the throne Senator Obama stated ”

“I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems. I will institute an independent Defense Priorities Board to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary defense spending … I will set a goal for a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal: I will not develop nuclear weapons.”

After he was crowned as President he and his wife, the woman who said at the Democratic convention

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”

chose to ignore a 50 year tradition and bypass the Medal of Honor Inaugural Ball,

Instead of attending this ball honoring our nation’s heroes, Obama was busy making stops at 10 other official balls. Obama and his wife’s first stop was at the Neighborhood Ball. From there they went to the Home State Ball for Illinois and Hawaii, the Commander-in-Chief Ball, the Youth Inaugural Ball, and the Home State Ball for Delaware and Pennsylvania. They finished off the night with brief appearances at the Mid-Atlantic, Western, Midwest, Eastern, and Southern regional Balls.

Of course the military ball wasn’t jam packed with the his highness’ cronies, the beautiful rich donors, oh sorry I’m mean celebrities.

Celebrities were a plenty at the balls, with Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Mary. J. Blige, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, will.i.am, Sting, Mariah Carey, and Leonardo DiCaprio in attendance at the Neighborhood Ball. In addition, the other nine balls also featured a star-studded lineup including Kanye West and Kid Rock at the Youth Ball, Marc Anthony at the Western Ball, and Cheryl Crow at the Western Ball.

And so who exactly is not FIT to be Commander in Chief. This is the same man who as Candidate Obama said,

“As President, I will close Guantanamo, reject the Military Commissions Act and adhere to the Geneva Conventions.”

But you say, he has a right to change his mind. He has since becoming president become educated. I would counter that since becoming president he does not want to be impeached or have the country go up in flames. As the leader of the party in power his taste for “change and revolution” has waned considerably. Funny how once the Alinsky followers get into powerful positions they have the same lack of principles as any other group of humans. Of course it is easier and faster for them to turn because since they have no scruples it is easier for them to jettison the ones they’ve pretended to have.

So please, NYT spare us the mendacity you are so famous for. Forgive us for ignoring your lame, partisan rhetoric, and liberal whining. We’ve long since absolved you of any trace of objectivity and patriotism. We see you for what you really are, the mouth piece for the fringe left wing of the Democratic party, anti-American, anti-family, amoral and anti-reality.

Welcome home

Yesterday we welcomed into our family a new spirit. Fresh from the Heavenly realm, our newest granddaughter made her appearance at 8am. Mother and baby are fine and siblings are adjusting just fine.

I have observed several things since my children began to have children of their own. First, it is much harder for me to watch them struggle through the same kinds of things I’ve already had to do. I would so do some of the hard things for them if I could. If you’re of a religious bent it kind of helps you understand in miniscule how God must feel all of the time. He would so help us if we’d let him, and most times when we let him he knows we have to go through it on our own. As frustrating as it is to go through trials, it is at least as frustrating to watch.

Second, Grandchildren are like presents for being parents. Being a parent is a thankless job most of the time. Important, essential but mostly unsung, until your children have children. Grandchildren (most anyway) think you are the best thing since sliced bread. There are a few things that come before Grandma and Grandpa but who can really out do Scooby Doo!

Third, this is why we work hard, are obedient and stay the course. So that our children and their children can have better in their lives. This is something some people don’t understand. Of course they support abortion used as birth control, population control and other anti-people policies, so it’s understandable. Sad but understandable. Maybe if they instead didn’t think of people as a collective and thought of the individual first they might change their perspective but I doubt it.

Lastly, welcoming a new life gives us the opportunity to reassess our lives, rearrange our priorities and rethink our decision making paradigm. I am truly grateful for the opportunities the Lord has given me to experience such a wide range of ………well experiences I guess. I have truly learned a lot but I realize that I have so much more I need to learn. It is my understanding that when one becomes truly educated they realize how much they don’t know and how much they still have to learn. There are so many truly ignorant people running around trying to run everyone else’s life that nothing get done. Well very little good gets done.

Carl Sandburg wrote, “A baby is God’s opinion that life should go on.” I couldn’t agree more and as Mr. Dickens famously penned, “God bless us everyone.”
