So here in my little slice of Paradise there were demonstrations over the “contraception mandate.” At issue, as of course you will already know, is whether the government (Pres. Obama and HHS Sec. Kathy Sebilius) can force religious organizations, schools, foundations, hospitals to provide free of charge contraceptives and other pregnancy inhibiting, limiting or ending services, which may be against the tenets of the religions of said entities.
Of course the Obama administration had a back up plan. Their compromise was that the insurance company would be required to provide said products and the religious organization would not even be involved. Except of course if the insurance company had to pay for all this free stuff, someone was going to have to pay. The organization would pay by having higher premiums, co-pays and procedure costs to offset the cost of free reproductive materials.
This of course was not an attack on the religious liberties granted citizens under the first amendment to the United States Constitution.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Nowhere does it say that we have only the rights given to us by our generous overlords. Nowhere do I read we have a right to be free FROM religion.
That there is a war going on against religion and especially Christians right now is to state the obvious. Hollywood and it’s degenerates have been at the fore front. The drek spewing from the screens of our TV’s, movie theaters, radios, and personal devices has reach epic proportions. Every where good is being labeled as bad and bad as good. The media is hand and hand in this debacle. They push their agenda driven by selfishness, self obsession and self absorption.
While I can understand why some would herald the mandate, I wonder that no one has seen fit to weigh in on some of the unintended consequences of such a mandate. While we know that the pill is effective it is not without side effects. What happens after years and years of prescriptions? What happens when a woman can’t ovulate anymore? What happens to those who take the morning after pill and find that down the road they can’t get pregnant? How about all those wonderful side effects from the pill and other birth control methods (intra uterine products)? When does one become old enough to get this FREE birth control? 18, 17, 14, 12? After all who wants twelve year olds on the pill, right? Maybe the better question is why are there 12 year olds having intercourse and who are they having it with?
Not to mention who will the largest procurers of said contraceptives be. One would imaging the poor, those on public assistance, those who know nothing but Food Stamps and Welfare. Those of a certain socio-economic group and with in that group are a high percentage of minorities. I guess eugenics maven and Planned Parenthood founder will get her wish.
The purpose in promoting birth control was “to create a race of thoroughbreds,” she wrote in the Birth Control Review, Nov. 1921 (p. 2)
Sanger believed that, for the purpose of racial “purification,” couples should be rewarded who chose sterilization. Birth Control in America, The Career of Margaret Sanger, by David Kennedy, p. 117, quoting a 1923 Sanger speech.
and her thoughts on blacks, immigrants and the indigent…
…human weeds,’ ‘reckless breeders,’ ‘spawning… human beings who never should have been born.” Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people
The Maybe your religion teaches abstinence. Maybe you’re the parent and have decided that sexual experience is best conducted in a committed, legal arrangement where both parties are mature enough to handle the consequences whatever they may be. Maybe it’s time to stop the spread of ignorance and self loathing that allows young people to believe they are only as important as their next sexual encounter. Maybe it’s time it stop perpetuating the belief that wickedness ever was happiness. If people are so all fired happy with their loose morals and no religion, why are they so obviously unhappy. Why does nothing, no matter how jaded and depraved satisfy them.
Why is it that we can’t find our way out of the morass in which we’ve sunk ourselves by our unwillingness to stand up for what’s correct and our paranoia that someone may be offended by our lives. Guess what, I’m offended everyday. I’m offended when I’m lied to by politicians and the media. I’m offended by TV shows and movies that present families as inconsequential and members as ignorant buffoons or intolerant zealots. I’m offended by the Bill Maher’s and Joy Behar’s of the world who think the rules, whatever they are, don’t apply to them. More than that I’m offended every time I go to the store or a movie or really anywhere that people congregate. The filth that spews from their mouths loudly and often is enough to make one never want to leave the house again.
So the next time religion offends you, give a thought to what just came out of your mouth. As someone once said……”Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?’ and “You have in your mouth what I wouldn’t have on my feet”. Your welcome.
